Lake Malawi

Majete Wildlife Reserve
“Visiting Majete is a must if you like wildlife and it is the home of the BIG FIVE”. It is a one and half drive from Chileka International airport as it is just a 70km distance. Under African Parks management since 2003, Majete has different species of animals in addition to the big five such as Zebras, Bush pigs, Impala. On the unique part of it, you can also find giraffes lingering around.
The presence of Shire river allows boat safaris. Tourists can accommodate themselves at Chawani Bungalow, Fisherman’s Rest, Huntingdon House and Leslie Lodge which are around this protected area.
Liwonde National Park
This is located in the southern part of Malawi covering an area of 580 square kilometers with a distance of 160km from Chileka international airport. This is a home of different species of animals, some of them are: Elephants, Hippos, Lions, Leopards, Crocodiles, Black Rhino, Hyena and cheetah. Birdwatchers can also bank their experience at this place as different species of birds may be heard making welcoming noise upon stepping in the park.
To the west of this park borders a beautiful Shire river where tourists may enjoy boat safaris. Tourist accommodation is not a problem as Mvuu Lodge, Kuthengo Camp and Mvuu Camp offer the services.
