Day 01 Arrive Athens
Arrival at Athens airport meet, assist and transfer to Hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure. Athens is an amazing city to discover on your own with its numerous museums, parks, and the shopping areas of Kolonaki, Hermou, Voukourestiou Street, Monastiraki and Plaka. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02 On Cruise
After breakfast, Transfer to the Athens port of Piraeus and embark on your 4 days Iconic Aegean sea Cruise.
MYKONOS: At leisure on the Jet Set Cycladic island of Mykonos renowned for its striking windmills. Wander the maze of narrow alleys and an array of shops for bargains. In the evening, enjoy the live on board entertainment or try your luck in the casino. Overnight on board.
Day 03 On Cruise
After breakfast, Samos (Pythagorion): Take the included tour Panoramic Samos. Starting in Vathi (Samos Town), you’ll explore this historic harbor wrapped around a horseshoe-shaped bay and amble past neoclassical buildings that fringe cute winding streets. On our way to Kokkari in the north of the island, you’ll stop at a winery before setting foot in this picture-postcard village cushioned between turquoise waters and steep forested hills in the background. Lastly, you’ll head back to the south-east of Samos and to the popular, cosmopolitan harbor town of Pythagoreio. Here you can walk amongst brightly-colored fishing boats lined up against the docks and discover a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with ancient ruins and trendy waterside taverns. You’ll also have free time to sightsee, shop or sit back with a cool drink.
For passenger visiting Kusadasi:
Kusadasi: Take the included tour Ancient Ephesus through the Ages – Hellenistic/Roman. See the Agora, the Odeon, the marble-paved main Street of Kouretes, the Baths of Scholastica, Trajan’s Fountain, the Public Latrines, the Residences of the Patricians, the Prytaneum, the Temple of Hadrian. The Great Theatre, built in the 4th century B.C., could accommodate 24,000 spectators and it is famous even nowadays for its acoustics. During the excursion you will have the opportunity to do some shopping such as carpets, jewellery, leather and other souvenirs.
Patmos: The Holy island where St. John wrote The Revelation, known as Jerusalem of the Aegean Sea. At leisure or take an optional tour to visit the Monastery and Grotto of St. John. In the evening, enjoy the live on board entertainment or try your luck in the casino. Overnight on board.
Day 04 On Cruise
After breakfast, Heraklion, the capital of Crete. At leisure or take an optional tour to visit the fantastic ruins of the Palace of Knossos. The elaborate palace is believed to be the mythical Labyrinth of King Minos (Minotaur legend) and the seat of the Minoan civilization. During your Free time, visit the “Koules” fortress, Morosini Fountain, the Basilica of Saint Mark, and the Church of Agios Titos.
Santorini: Formed by the eruption of the volcano in 1600 BC. Take the included tour Spectacular Oia village perched on the Caldera rim. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Caldera and the Volcano. The sight is the most breathtaking of all Greek islands and perhaps of the world. In the evening, enjoy the live on board entertainment or try your luck in the casino. Overnight on board.
Day 05 On Arrival Athens – Argolis – Olympia (By Road) (334 km / 05 hrs)
After Breakfast, Meet at the Athens port of Piraeus and transfer to the tour terminal for your 4 days Classical Tour. Depart Athens and stop to see the Corinth Canal. Drive onto and visit the ancient theatre of Epidaurus famous for its acoustics. See the town of Nafplion before arriving in Mycenae. Visit the archaeological site and the Royal Tomb of Agammemnon (The leader of the Troy War). Continue across the central Peloponnese to Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games. From here, the original Olympic Flame begins its journey to the Olympic Games. Dinner in the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 06 Olympia – Delphi (By Road) (242 kms 03 hrs. 20 min. appx.)
After Breakfast Proceed to Visit the original Olympic Stadium and the archaeological museum. Then drive north to Patras and cross the new bridge over the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. Continue via the towns of Nafpaktos and Itea to Delphi. Dinner in the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 07 Delphi – Kalambaka (By Road) (231 kms 03 hrs. 25 min. appx.)
After Breakfast Proceed to Visit the archaeological site of Delphi on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. See the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios, Castalia Spring and the museum. In the afternoon leave Delphi for an interesting trip through Central Greece to Kalambaka (Meteora). Dinner in the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 08 Kalambaka – Athens (By Road) (354 kms 04 hrs. 13 min. appx.)
After Breakfast Proceed to Visit Meteora with its impressive scenery, ageless monasteries, suspended between earth and sky. Inside, see priceless historical and religious treasures. Return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae and drop off at the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 09 Athens
After Breakfast Proceed to half day morning tour. See Syntagma Square, the House of Parliament, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Athens Academy, the University, the National Library and the Hadrian’s Arch. Pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus and visit the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held in 1896. On the Acropolis visit the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally “the harmony between material and spirit”, the Parthenon. Continue and visit the place where at last the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era, the museum of Acropolis. At the end of the tour, drop off at the hotel or at the city centre. Remainder of the day at own leisure. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 10 Depart Athens
Departure transfer to onward destination.
