Quang Nam
Quang Nam is a province in central Vietnam, bordering Laos to the west and the sea to the east. It’s home to My Son, a complex of roughly 4th- to 13th-century Hindu temple remains from the Cham empire, surrounded by jungle and backed by Cat’s Tooth Mountain. Coastal beaches include the wide, palm-lined Cua Dại and An Bang. Offshore, the coral reefs of the rocky Cham Islands form a protected marine park.Quang Nam was once the political and near the geographic centre of Champa and the province was gifted in 1307 in exchange for a marriage to a Vietnamese princess. For some time both the most powerful city-state and the busiest Cham port were located in what is now Quang Nam. Trade in luxury goods from the Central Highlands was the basis of this wealth and power. As a result of warfare with Vietnam, the centre of political power of the Cham shifted south to Vijaya.
