Punta Mango
Located at the Wild east, it’s probably the second-best wave in the country, it’s a beach with rocky bottom and strong currents, which makes it very demanding for sports.
You can find a couple of resort hotels of very high level where you can stay, but also the access its not easy and will require a four-wheel-drive vehicle and maybe a tour guide.
How to get there
From San Salvador go to the east of the country through the coast route. At El Cuco beach go west.
Costa del Sol
It’s located at the San Luis La Herradura municipality, it’s one of the most visited places by people that enjoy the sun and beach. The beach is part of a tourist complex that has mangroves, estuary, islands, inlets, and other natural attractions. Costa del Sol is the most extensive beach in El Salvador.
It has a variety of hotels. Also, it’s important to mention the different activities that this place offers to its visitors, such as: boat rides, visit to the Montecristo Island, visiting the mangroves, practicing volleyball and beach soccer.
How to get there
From San Salvador, take the coast highway east.
El Pimental Beach
It characterizes for its privacy and tranquility; it’s the ideal place to enjoy leisure with a peaceful environment away from the urban area.
El Pimental offers natural beauty through its estuary, to which you can have access through the inlet. There you can have food for all tastes.
How to get there
You must take the highway that leads to the Comalapa International Airport; you’ll find sign posts on the way that indicate the detour to El Pimental and La Zunganera beaches.
Las Flores Beach
Enchanting and quiet beach, one of the most important surf destinations in El Salvador. Las Flores beach is located at the east coast of the country, also known as the Wild east and it’s considered a hidden jewel with perfect waves for surfers all over the world.
Las Flores is adjacent to El Cuco beach, it’s what makes this place perfect for walking on the beach during low tide and try the restaurants in the area.
How to get there
From San Salvador go to the east of the country through the coast route. At El Cuco beach head east.
El Obispo Beach
This beach has big and beautiful rocky formations that offers a spectacular scenario when the waves pound persistently with these rocky formations like its trying to knock them down, causing a magic sound.
It’s almost certain that you’ll not need anything, you’ll enjoy the scenery and the moment, and of course you’ll eat without worry in the restaurants, where you’ll try fresh seafood dishes and live music.
How to get there
From San Salvador, go to El Malecon in La Libertad Port; start at the main entrance. Reading the signs is very important, they will lead you to the beach entrance.
La Paz Beach
It has extinguished waves for surfers, specially amateurs. It’s important to emphasize that surf championships have been celebrated in its waves. Visitors can find a variety of services such as: hostels, hotels, restaurants, surf lessons, and kayaking.
You can watch species of sea animals such as marlins, golden dolphins, tuna, and others.
How to get there
From San Salvador, head to La Libertad Port. The beach is in front of the tourist Pier.
Punta Roca (Punta Chilama)
It has one of the best world class wave, the best in the country and one of the best waves in America, long right wave, potent and hollow, for intermediate and advanced surfers. Here you’ll find hotels dispersed in different sectors of the beach, and also a variety of popular restaurants.
How to get there
Located in La Libertad department, approximately 34 km or 30 minutes from San Salvador, on the coast highway. As reference we take the Dock at La Libertad Port, that is next to La Paz beach.
El Cocal
Visited by local and foreign surfers due to its proximity to El Sunzal and La Paz beaches. This beach is characterized by the vast variety of sea gastronomic products.
How to get there
If you travel by vehicle you must take the coast highway and be on the lookout for the sign posts.
Conchalío
Located in La Libertad. Conchalío has a very varied accommodation offer, the visitor can find in its surroundings hotels, hostels, restaurants, houses for rent, etc. This beach is characterized by fast and quiet waves, for this reason it’s visited by surf enthusiasts, especially beginners.
How to get there
To get to Conchalio beach by car, it is recommended that you take the coast highway. This beach is located after the Chilama bridge, to the left.
San Blas / Majahual
This is a perfect place to spend a different day and enjoy leisure. It’s adjoined to El Majahual beach, which has various beach breaks and surfing clubs, and also it has a sandy beach between the rocky topography of all the Balsamo mountain range region. Here, you’ll find a biggest house rental range,
It’s the ideal place to stay, you have different hostels and restaurants in the area.
How to get there
You must go to the coast highway; just after Conchalio you’ll find this spectacular tourtist destination. Located in km 39 ½ of this same highway, if you follow the signs while driving you will have no problem getting there.
El Majahual Beach
An ideal place for tourism, relaxing and enjoying nature. The fun doesn’t await, specially if you are passionate about sports, you can practice football or beach volleyball, thanks to its flat beach. If you are a fan and or a beginner surfer, you can venture into surfing, you will find instructors specialized in this sport. And if you don’t own your own surfboard, don’t worry, you can rent on site.
How to get there
From San Salvador, go to La Libertad Port, and from there take the coast highway to the west. Right to the left of the street you’ll se the Majahual beach.
El Palmarcito
Located in Tamanique, El Palmarcito has a swell where you can practice surfing and body surf.
There are a variety of small businesses that offer fresh seafood dishes, very popular in Salvadoran gastronomy.
How to get there
From San Salvador, go to La Libertad Port. Then take the coast highway to the west.
