Tien Giang
Tien Giang is a province in southern Vietnam, in the Mekong Delta. On the outskirts of the capital My Tho is the ornate Chua Vinh Trang Buddhist temple. A short boat ride away is Thoi Son Island with its many fruit trees. Farther upriver is Cai Be Floating Market, selling fruit and vegetables. In Cho Gạo District, close to My Tho, the Go Thanh archeological site displays findings of the ancient Oc Eo culture.
Tien Giang borders Long An Province and HCMC to the north, Dong Thap Province to the west, Ben Tre and Vinh Long Province to the south, and the East Sea to the east. My Tho City, acting the leading role of socioeconomic and politic center of Tien Giang, is the major junction of education, culture and tourism for nearby provinces. The city is 70 kilometres (43 mi) away from Ho Chi Minh City to the south and 90 kilometres (56 mi) away from Can Tho City to the east.
