The Ethnic Textile Tour is a perfect tour allowing you to explore the country known for its rich culture and unity in diversity. The diversification not only lies in religion, language but also in culture, costumes and traditions. The ikat or the sambalpuri sarees are worldwide famous for its intricate designs. The ability to dye the design properly was key and involved multiple skills: precision, mathematical calculations and artistry which is well practiced by textile weavers for decades now.

Through the Ethnic Textile Tour, we take you on a pan-India journey which familiarizes you with the diversity that we have in terms of costumes. The 14 day trip takes you to textile havens in West Bengal and Orissa. Besides, the tour features some wonderful excursions to popular tourist attractions such as the Howrah Bridge, Lingraj Temple and the Dongeria Kondh village.
Day 01 Arrive Kolkata (By Flight)
After arriving at the Kolkatta airport, meet our representative who’ll escort you to one of our listed hotels. Check-in at the hotel. Spent the day resting and relaxing in your hotel room. In the evening take a leisurely walk to explore Kolkata’s nearBy market area. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02 Kolkata
In the morning after breakfast, proceed for a city tour of Kolkata. The major tourist attractions of the Kolkata city include Fort William, Gurusaday Museum, Howrah Bridge, Indian Museum, Jawahar Shishu Bhawan, Kalighat Kali Temple, Nakhoda Mosque, and the Parashnath Jain Temple. In the evening visit the Botanical Garden, an amazing place for people who have profound love for nature. The garden has abundant of flowering plants and fruit bearing trees. Enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 03 Kolkata – Bhubaneshwar (By Flight)
Next morning post breakfast, get deported to the Kolkata airport to board a flight to Bhubaneshwar. As you reach Bhubaneshwar, check-in at one of our listed hotels. While being in this temple city of India, take a tour to major tourist attractions like the Lingaraj Temple, Cactus Garden, Rajarani Temple, Mukteswar temple and Ekamra Kanan. Later in the day, pay a visit to the twin hills of Khandagiri and Udaygiri for its rock-cut caves. Bhubaneshwar is famous for its Tie and Dye textile industry so in the evening pay a visit to the said industry. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 04 Bhubaneshwar – Sambhalpur (By Road) (304 Kms. / 7H 30M appx.)
In the morning after breakfast , leave for Sambhalpur. While on your drive to Sambhalpur stop midway to visit Nuapatna, the handloom weavers village. The villagers of Nuapatna have been weaving handloom cloths continuously for generations. The weavers here have been practicing the resist method of tie and dye. The ability to dye the design properly was key and involved multiple skills: precision, mathematical calculations and artistry. After the visit continue your drive to Sambhalpur. As you reach Sambhalpur, check-in at one of our listed hotels. Sambalpur is the center for the textile industry spread over western Orissa. The ikat or the sambalpuri sarees are worldwide famous for their intricate designs. In the afternoon visit the Gole Bazaar that has a great collection of designer sarees. Later in the day pay a visit to the major tourist attractions of Sambhalpur like Hirakund Dam, Ushakothi Wildlife Sanctuary and the Huma Temple. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 05 Sambhalpur – Boudh (By Road) (98 Kms. / 2H 30M appx.)
After breakfast, visit some of the handloom weavers’ villages. The double-sided Ikat designs, woven in colored, silver and gold threads, common in Sambalpur textiles and handlooms. Then leave for Boudh. Boudh is famous for silk Bomkai saree, tie & dye cotton saree and silk tie & dye saree. In the evening visit the market for shopping for some of these fabulous sarees. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 06 Boudh – Bissam Cuttack (By Road) (251 Kms. / 5H 30M appx.)
After breakfast proceed to Bissam Cuttack. Stop midway to visit the Phulbani and Kutia Kondh villages. Dinner and overnight at Bissam Cuttack.
Day 07 Bissam Cuttack – Jeypore (By Road) (178 Kms. / 4H 40M appx.)
Next morning head straight to visit one of the Dongeria Kondh villages. After visiting the village trek down the hills along with the tribals to their Wednesday weekly market at Chatikona. Enjoy breakfast at Chatikona proceed to Jeypore. Stop midway at Koraput for lunch. As you reach Jeypore, check-in at one of our listed hotels. The rest of the day to be spent resting and relaxing. In the evening take a leisurely walk to the nearBy market of Jeypore. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 08 Jeypore
In the morning after breakfast, proceed to Jeypore. This land of abundance is home to Orissa’s vast tribal population. On reaching Jeypore, check-in at one of our listed hotels. After resting for a while in your hotel room embark to the witness delight dance performance of the Parajas tribe. Jeypore is the commercial nerve center of Koraput district and has all such facilities to serve as the convenient base for visiting the places of interest in and around. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 09 Jeypore – Malkangiri (By Road) (105 Kms. / 2H 15M appx.)
Next morning after breakfast leave for Malkangiri. En-route visit the Friday weekly market at Mathili, also visited By the Bondas. After the visit to the weekly market start for Malkangiri again. On reaching Malkangiri, check-in at one of our listed hotels. Enjoy lunch at the hotel. After lunch visit A Iralgundi the Koya village. In the evening witnessing the Bison head dance of the tribals. Return to the hotel in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10 Malkangiri – Rayagada (By Road) (239 Kms. / 5H 20M appx.)
Post breakfast depart to Mudulipada. On reaching Mudulipada scout around the Bonda villages. Lunch at Khairput. In the evening proceed to Rayagada for dinner and overnight stay.
