Day 1: Arrive Dhaka
Upon arrival in Bangladesh, you’ll be met by your driver who will whisk you through the modern capital of Dhaka to your comfortable city hotel. Here, you may freshen up, relax and get acclimated, ready for your journey of discoveries.
Day 2: Dhaka
Wake up for breakfast at your hotel before embarking on your comprehensive city tour. See the paddle steamer boats from Sadarghat Wharf on the River Buriganga, explore the museum at the former palace of Ahsan Manzil, tour the Bangladesh National Museum and visit the distinctively decorated Star Mosque. After lunch at a local restaurant, take a look at the National Assembly Building of Bangladesh, before heading back to the hotel for dinner and a relaxing evening.
Day 3: Dhaka – Bogra
This morning you’ll breakfast early, ready to hit the road bound for Bogra. On the way you’ll cross the Yamuna River via Bangabandhu Bridge, one of Asia’s longest bridges and a crucial link between the two sides of the country. Check in at your Bogra hotel and enjoy some lunch before heading to the ancient archeological capital of Mahasthangarh. Round the day off with a visit to the World Heritage Site of Somapura Vihara at Paharpur, the largest Buddhist Monastery in the world.
Day 4: Bogra – Rajshahi
After breakfast, begin the scenic drive to Rajshahi, stopping to see the government house which was once the palace of the Maharajas of Dighapatia. At Puthia, you’ll see the ornate Shiva Temple and the terracotta carvings of Govinda Temple. On arrival in Rajshahi, check into your hotel then set out to explore the Varendra Research Museum and its rich collection of artifacts of Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim heritage.
Day 5: Rajshahi – Khulna
After breakfast, on the road to Khulna, visit Bagha Mosque with its impressive terracotta wall carvings. After a delicious local lunch, continue your journey, crossing Lalan Bridge, built by engineer Sir Robert Gailes in 1908. Once in Khulna, check in, enjoy some dinner and get a good night’s rest at your hotel.
Day 6: Khulna – Sunderbans
After an early breakfast, hop aboard your boat for a full day cruise through the Sundarbans, the world’s largest tidal halophytic mangrove forest. Cruise through the network of waterways on the look out for crocodiles, exoctic birds and, of course, Bengal tigers. After your exciting day, relax back at your hotel.
Day 7: Sunderbans – Dhaka
After breakfast, it’s time to make your way back to Dhaka, via Bagerhat. Tour its Sixty Dome Mosque, the largest mosque in Bangladesh, and the Tomb of Khan Jahan Ali, where marsh crocodiles soak in the large pool nearby. Further along your scenic journey, you’ll cross the River Ganges by ferry boat before arriving at your city destination. This evening, pick up some last-minute souvenirs and enjoy your final dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 8: Depart Dhaka
Departure transfer to Dhaka airport for flight to onward destination.
