Peneda-Geres National Park is the only national park in Portugal. Covering 271 square miles, this expansive preserve contains many natural and historical treasures including striking waterfalls and long stretches of the Roman Geira, a colonial Roman road that once connected Roman kingdoms between Portugal and neighboring Spain.
Your tour will take you into this lush paradise to admire the beautiful lakes, mountains, flora and fauna. Soak in panoramic valley views of tiny fields with stone walls, then go down into the small villages for a special glimpse of traditional Portuguese life.
Keep an eye out for espigueiros, small cross-topped houses built by the early settlers to store corn from mice and natural elements. Along the way, you will stop and enjoy a picnic lunch full of sumptuous local delicacies as the sounds and beauty of nature surround you.
Throughout the tour your expert guide will share the area’s rich history and culture and point out items of interest. Be sure to bring your camera! Reserve your spot now to spend a relaxing day exploring this national treasure.
