Liberia is a country in West Africa, bordering Sierra Leone, Guinea and Côte d’Ivoire. On the Atlantic coast, the capital city of Monrovia is home to the Liberia National Museum, with its exhibits on national culture and history. Around Monrovia are palm-lined beaches like Silver and CeCe. Along the coast, beach towns include the port of Buchanan, as well as laid-back Robertsport, known for its strong surf.
Day 01: Monrovia – Libassa
Arrive in Monrovia and transfer to the hotel.
Day 02: Chimpanzee Island B
Travel to Marshall City, surrounded by various lagoons and the home to a series of island that are home to a community of Chimpanzees, Once destinated for the medical trade but now living a semi-wild existence and seeming to thrive. We can join the ranjers as they deliver food to the island and watch these increadible creatures up close, before returning to our accommodation.
Day 03: Bassa Villages B
We spend the day exploring the village of the Bassa people , best renowed fot the women’s rather striking practice of covering their bodies in chalk during initiation ceremonies , giving them the appearance of ghost.
Day 04 : Monrovia B
Spend today exploring the capital of Africa’s first independent republic. We visit some of its most interesting sites including its oldest church, built in 1847, its colourful markets and the remains of West Africa’s first five star hotel.
Day 05: Robertsport B-D
Head to the town of Robertsport, situated on the cast with some beautiful beaches, charming historic buildings and surrounding countryside to explore.
Day 06: Monrovia B
After a morning at Robertsport, return to Monrovia, stopping at villages and markets along the way.
Day 07: Firestone B
Visit Firestone, the world’s largest rubber plantation which has played a significant role in Liberia’s history since its foundation in 1926.
Day 08: Monrovia B
Transfer to the airport for departure
