This classic safari offers you an introduction to the Warm Heart of Africa – Malawi. Traveling on a budget, this tour allows you to explore some of the game parks of Malawi as well as Lake Malawi. This tour will make you fall in love with Malawi and stimulate your curiosity to what the rest of the country has to offer. Wildlife, nature and culture all packed in a short affordable adventure!
Day 01: Arrival Malawi
Today you will be arriving at Barefoot Lodge where you will have the opportunity to meet your guide and get acquainted with your equipment as well as having the opportunity to discuss the itinerary and meet fellow travelers.
Meet at 17:30 at Barefoot Restaurant. If arriving early there is an opertunity to explore the nearby villige via the local Kabaza (Bicycle or Moterbike taxi) at an aditional cost.
Day 02: Liwonde via Dedza
Departing after breakfast we make our way to Liwonde National Park. We will be traveling via Dedza Town and if time allows, we will visit the very well known Dedza pottery. Lunch will be en-route and we will arrive in time to setup camp and enjoy the sunset and our first campfire. Clients will be expected to participate in setting up camp, assist with meals and cleaning of dishes. Before departure clients will be expected to help with breaking up camp..
Day 03: Day on Safari
Getting up early we leave camp after coffee and rusks to be on Safari (Own vehicle) as soon as possible. We will be spending the morning in the park searching for wildlife and that perfect photo opportunity. For brunch (something in between breakfast and lunch) we will turn back to camp and during the heat of day be around the lodge. In the afternoon we have the opportunity to do another game drive with our own vehicle or book a Game Drive with the lodge (Optional). At the lodge they also have different activities available which can be arranged the day of arrival – Bush walk, night drive or boat Cruise (Optional).
Day 04-05: Lake Malawi
After breaking up camp and having breakfast we head north towards the well-known Lake Malawi. Passing villages like Mangotchi, we arrive in time at Cape Maclear to set up camp and get a glimpse of the third largest lake in Africa
Depending on the time we will have lunch either en-route or at Cape Maclear. Here we have 2 nights and a full day to explore and enjoy what this part of the lake has to offer. Various water-based and other activities can be booked and arranged from our accommodation at an aditional cost.
Day 06: Along the shore of Lake Malawi
Today we head further north along the shore towards Selima. Here we will leave the camping equipment on the vehicle and enjoy wat the lodge has to offer. Arriving during, or just after lunch we still have the afternoon to partake in a bout trip around the island(Optional) or just enjoy the view from the terrace or lazing around the swimming pool.
Day 07: Back to Lilongwe Departure
After a relaxed morning we make our way back towards the capital city – Lilongwe. En-route we visit Kuti Wildlife Sanctuary and if we lucky we find the resident zebras close to, or even inside the restaurant. We will arrive in Lilongwe late afternoon. Your guide will drop you at your accommodation within Lilongwe. If any assistance is needed with accommodation on this day, we are welcome to assist at Barefoot lodge. We can also arrange for transport to the airoprt if needed.

• In Asia, there is no relevance between the distance and time of travelling, as it depends upon the condition of the roads and congestion of the traffic.
• While every effort will be made to maintain the itinerary, in view of local strikes etc that are beyond our control all schedule and itineraries are subject to last moment changes.
