This Honolulu and Pearl Harbor tour is perfect for guests disembarking from their cruise, as you can take your luggage with you. Departing from the cruise ship, you will tour Honolulu’s most famous sites and learn the history of this wonderful city during your driving orientation. Highlights you will see or pass on this excursion include the Iolani Palace, the pride of the Hawaiian Monarchy and the site of its overthrow in 1893. You will also marvel at the gold-sheathed statue of King Kamehameha, one of Hawaii’s most well-known heroes, famous for uniting the island nation.
You will also have a drive-through visit to The Punchbowl National Cemetery, located in the Puowaina Crater, an extinct volcano locally referred to as the “Punchbowl.” Officially dedicated on September 2, 1949 on the fourth anniversary of V-J Day, The Punchbowl Cemetery has been described as the most beautiful and moving of all national cemeteries.
Your tour will take you to the legendary USS Arizona Memorial, the final resting place for many of the battleship’s 1,177 crew members who lost their lives in the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. More than one million people visit the Memorial, dedicated in 1962, annually. You will enjoy a self-guided visit to the Arizona Memorial, including a 23-minute historical film with authentic footage of the Pearl Harbor attack. From the theater you will be taken to the Arizona Memorial aboard a Navy shuttle. Visit the Shrine Room and reflect on the names of the 1,177 men resting aboard the sunken battleship below. And be sure to peer down at the actual battleship wreckage along with the “black tears of the Arizona,” oil that still leaks from the vessel more than 70 years after its sinking. Back at the Visitor’s Center, you will have time to browse through the fascinating Museum exhibits and explore the gift shop, where you can find Pearl Harbor books, memorabilia, and souvenirs. From the grounds of the Visitor’s Center, you can look across to Battleship Row and also see the USS Bowfin submarine, which is tied up not far from the Visitor’s Center. The USS Missouri, located on Pearl Harbor’s Ford Island, is also easy to view from here.
We and our partners have no control over Pearl Harbor, the National Park, or the Navy shuttle boats at the Arizona Memorial. Please be aware that there are long lines and delays which occur frequently at the National Park, as the Arizona Memorial is operated on a first come first served basis each day. We are not able to offer any refunds if guests do not gain entry to the Arizona Memorial, movie, or other sights due to a large number of visitors on a given day. We thank you for your understanding.
Please Note: This tour is only for cruise guests and cannot be done on embarkation day.
The US Department of the Interior has instituted a “no bags” policy at the Arizona Memorial and Visitor Center. A photo ID is required of all guests 16 years of age or older to enter Pearl Harbor. Guests under 16 should have a copy of their birth certificate. Pearl Harbor is still an active military installation, and as such there are strict security measures prohibiting large cameras, purses, handbags, fanny packs, backpacks, camera bags, diaper bags, luggage, shopping bags, and/or other items that offer concealment. No bags of any size are allowed. A small camera is permitted. The camera lens cannot exceed 6 inches. Wheelchairs, walkers, and canes may be used. Strollers are allowed, but with limited access to the site. Crowds and waiting are to be expected. Please bring vital items in a manner that they can be placed in your pockets.
This tour is for guests who are arriving via cruise ship. Guests debarking a ship at the end of their cruise may bring luggage on this tour. Bags and valuables should not be left in the passenger part of the vehicle. Personal items should all be placed in your luggage, which is stored underneath the vehicle or in the baggage compartment. Drop-offs at the end of the tour can include Waikiki hotels or the Honolulu International Airport. We do not recommend this tour for guests with flights departing before 6:30 PM. Due to road and vehicle constraints, drop-offs in Waikiki will be made at the closest and safest location to your hotel.
