Avila, capital of the Spanish province of the same name, is a city in the rolling hill country northwest of Madrid. It’s best known for its intact medieval city walls, with 80-plus crenelated, semicircular towers and 9 gates, including the arched El Alcazar, on the eastern side. Long sections atop the walls are walkable. At night, the lighted walls are a distinctive sight.
Day 01 Arrive Madrid / Madrid – Avila (By Road) (108 Km / 01 hrs 18 min)
Arrival at Madrid airport, meet assist and transfer to the Hotel. Afternoon guided city tour of the monastery of El Escorial, the best representation of the Spanish Empire in XVIth century, when under Spanish crown were more than half of the known world America, Philippines, a big part of present Italy, Holland, Belgium, etc. proceed to hotel. Day 02 Avila
After breakfast, Proceed to guided visit of Avila (Cathedral) and its impressive wall perfectly preserved around the middle age downtown. In the afternoon, we will travel to the nearby for a guided tour to visit the Alcazar , Cathedral and to remain amazed with the best preserved roman aqueduct on the world. Return to Avila. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 03 Avila
After breakfast, Today we will visit where we will have a morning guided tour visiting Cathedral Old and New and the nice Main Square. Free time. Return to Avila. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 04 Avila – Caceres (By Road) (238 Km / 02 hrs 33 min appx.)
After breakfast Proceed to Wonderful example of popular architecture of mountain. Stone houses Short stop to visit an old ‘Juderia’ (Jewish quarter till XVth century) very nice Short stop, and superb Cathedral. Overnight at hotel.
Day 05 Caceres
After breakfast Proceed to guided city tour, and it is a wonderful surprise because it is very unknown town. Afternoon excursion to Probably the best preserved Roman ruins in Spain (a wonderful theater which is still used). Return to Caceres. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 06 Caceres – Toledo (By Road) (261 Km / 02 hrs 31 min appx.)
After breakfast Proceed to Nice old downtown full of old palaces of ‘Indianos’ , those people who returned rich from their time in America in XVII and XVIIIth century. Pizarro was born here. Very important monastery on the discovery of the new world, America. Majority of conquerors and discoverers of America come from this region, Extremadura, and Guadalupe was the virgin of this region, that is the reason this monastery has wonderful art treasure and you can find the name of Guadalupe in hundreds of towns, villages, and monasteries in Latin America. Visit of the Monastery.
It has been the capital of Spain and the royal residence in the XIII century. During this period, Muslim, Jews and Christians populations lived together peacefully turning it as a great cultural and monumental center. We will enjoy walking along its narrow streets where the history can be felt in the air. In the evening we suggest a walk in their stone streets when all tourists from Madrid are gone and town remains as a small place Its medieval streets lighted will bring us magically to other centuries. Day 07 Toledo
After breakfast Proceed to guided city tour , we will visit the Cathedral, St tome Church (where is El Greco painter’s masterpiece) and the Synagogue. Afternoon excursion to the nearby with the possibility to visit the Royal Palace and about all magnificent gardens. Return to Toledo. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 08 Toledo – Madrid (By Road) (73 Km / 01 hrs appx) / Depart Madrid
Departure transfer to onward destination.
